Join Us

I believe we can all be soothed and strengthened here - everybody welcome.

In this self-paced course I will guide you to re-connect with innate heart qualities - even in the face of personal and societal challenges.

This course is for you if you want:

  • Your own heart to be a trustworthy friend in times of need

  • To respond to yourself with care instead of criticism so you can grow

  • More love, steadiness and joy in your life

  • To be less reactive with the people you care about

  • To be resourced to do what matters to you

This fresh take on ancient heart teachings offers you a pathway and practices to open to the powerful qualities of your own heart - in the midst of your daily life.

Turn towards your heart

When we're actually most in need of care—in transition, on a new edge, or in a dark night — it's easy to react to ourselves with control, aggression or criticism.

For many of us, this can feel more familiar - more trustworthy - than tenderness.

Yet we all need this warmth and kindness.

And we don’t need to wait for a crisis before we start turning towards it.

Over four weeks, you will plant the seeds of a wise, alive heart through exploring :

  • Friendliness / Metta. Unconditional friendliness to self and other. Love that that isn’t dependent on ‘being good’ or pleasing others, or fuelled by fear or the desire to ‘possess’.

  • Compassion / Karuna. ‘Feeling with’ youself/ others - (not pity or overwhelm). Putting yourself in another’s shoes without leaving your own.

  • Sympathetic joy / Mudita. Finding joy in sharing in another’s flourishing and growth (not one-upping or a covering over pain with a smile)

  • Equanimity / Upekkha. Steadiness, having the wisdom to allow for the changing nature of experience (not elevating above the mess/ numbing out/indifference)

These qualities are powerful circuit-breakers - in time they can shift some of your most stubborn harmful patterns.

You can learn to be accompanied by your heart, no matter what life throws your way.

A note from Jess

I want this course to be a circuit breaker.

We’ve all seen how cycles of pain play out on a large scale -  the maddening, escalating, compulsive tides of history - the repetitions of harm - politically, environmentally.

This also happens in big and small ways in each of our own lives.

Every time one of us disrupts this pattern of inner or outer harm - every time we can love ourselves or each other better than the past did -  we are all contributing to changing the course of our shared human ship.

This starts with you. And it’s not easy to do alone.

These teachings on the Brahma Viharas will support you to recognise something deeper in your being than repetitive cycles - and to act from here. To plant good seeds in the bed of your own life, and in the collective.

There is a place for everybody in these heart teachings.

In this course you will receive:

  • A video introduction from me on these heart teachings

  • A specially recorded dharma talk on each quality

  • Tailored guided practices to download

  • Reflective questions to journal or discuss

  • Curated readings, ranging from original buddhist texts, to contemporary teachers, to artists

  • Bonus content: Extra dharma talks, a Q&A recording, and a live session recording featuring music by Matt Wicking

  • Curated beautiful maps of Buddhist teachings

Your Heart Can Do What Your Mind Cannot

In this self-paced course you will be guided to re-connect with innate heart qualities, to embody more love, steadiness and joy - even in the face of personal and societal challenges.

You will do this through exploring the four Brahma Viharas, known as the ‘divine abodes’. These qualities are like homes - safe homes that feel really good - and are said to give strength and be strength.

Through practice, we can spend more time in these friendly places.

A powerful heart is not naive openness

It's a discerning, tender and sometimes fierce love - supported by steady ground and the recognition that we all belong to something bigger.

And when your heart engages -

as you get behind your own life

- powerful shifts start to happen.

What Others Have Experienced:

"It was a refuge, rays of light and truth, a backbone for the chaos and pain that inevitably emerges in this human life. It was one of the best things I have ever done."

“I feel steadier, more sure-footed, vital and awake to what matters.”

"It allowed me to soften, tap into more inner strength and love, and gifted me with beautiful practices to continue to use in my daily life."

I loved the chance to maintain the depth of practice within my full time work week - getting up early and then doing it again before bed. ”
